Through a grant and research proposal, the "Statement Making Fashion Show" was a collaborative project among several disciplines to facilitate a dialogue on present and future fashion and textile design. The design for this dress started with an idea on patterns and movement through the initial sketch concept. The pattern was generated using a script design in Grasshopper, a digital visual coding language. Parametric by nature, the design uses what is called a 'varonoi' pattern to manipulate the visual components of the pattern and vary the spacing of each node. The resulting pattern was laser cut and sewn into the dress form and was a component in a collection of digitally produced wearable pieces.
